Lanzarote, Spain - Day 3

Do you remember that volcano that I told you about here? Well, as everything eventually comes to an end, the eruption also had to stop at some point and that's why today we'll see different landscapes. I'll begin with the northern part, Mirador del Río, one of the highest points of the island where you can see these amazing views of a little island, La Graciosa, where the Atlantic Ocean touches the sky. That place, as many others on the island, was constructed by César Manrique, the man whose ideas are like nothing that I had seen before. He had this great concept of mixing nature and art, to build things that would adapt to the man while preserving the nature. Sustainable architecture in all its glory mixed with modern minimalism. Even when it comes to rural landscape. Which is another place that was reserved for that day, a replica of typical Lanzarote's houses, all painted white, with green windows and doors and gardens made of black volcanic soil and exotic plants. It somehow reminds me of The Flintstones house :) There is an old mill, a lot of vegetation and camels that live mixed with goats and chickens. People who work there offered us the local cheese and wine and there we were, sitting on a bench below the fuchsia tree tasting delicious local products and breathing the fresh air. I could have stayed there forever. At least, the flight that we had the next day was late in the evening and I was happy knowing that we had an almost entire new day for enjoying this paradise on Earth...

¿Os acordáis del volcán del otro día? Su erupción tuvo que parar en algún sitio y gracias a eso, hoy veremos algo distinto. Voy a empezar con el norte de la isla, el sitio llamado Mirador del Río, uno de los puntos más altos donde se puede disfrutar de unas vistas increíbles de pequeña isla La Graciosa y observar como el Océano Atlántico se mezcla con el cielo. Este sitio, como muchos otros de Lanzarote, fue la idea de César Manrique, el hombre que tuvo un gran impacto en la isla. Su idea principal fue mezclar la naturaleza y arte, construir sin destruir. Es algo como arcitectura sostenible de estilo minimalista, incluso cuando se trata del paisaje rural, otra cosa reservada para hoy, en concreto las típicas casas de Lanzarote, todas de color blanco con puertas y ventanas verdes, con jardines negros de la tierra volcánica y plantas exóticas. Me recuerda a la casa de Los Picapiedra :) Es un sitio donde encontramos un viejo molino, mucha vegetación y camellos mezclados con cabras y gallinas. La gente que trabaja ahí nos ofreció su típico queso y vino, y ahí estábamos, sentados en un banco debajo de un árbol de color fucsia, respirando el aire fresco. Podría haberme quedado ahí para siempre. Menos mal que el vuelo de vuelta del día siguiente fue por la noche y nos esperaba un día más para disfrutar de ese paraíso...

Sećate se vulkana o kojem sam vam pričala ovde? Sve ima svoj početak i kraj, pa je tako i erupcija morala da stane na nekom mestu, zbog čega ostatak ostrva nudi nešto drugačije od vulkanskih predela. Prvo mesto se nalazi na najsevernijem delu Lansarotea i u pitanju je Mirador del Río, najviši vidikovac na ostrvu odakle se pruža neverovatan pogled na malo olbližnje ostrvo La Graciosa, okruženo Atlantskim okeanom koji se stapa sa nebom. Ovo mesto, kao i mnoga druga na Lansaroteu, delo su Sesara Manrikea, čoveka čije su ideje nešto sa čime nisam imala prilike da se susretnem ranije. On je imao tu predivnu viziju o mešanju prirode i umetnosti, o prilagođavanju neprohodnih mesta čoveku bez uništavanja koje tako nešto obično podrazumeva. Nešto kao arhitektura na ekološki način uz dozu modernog minimalizma. Ta ideja se odnosi čak i na seoski pejzaž, drugo mesto rezervisano za ovaj dan. Radi se o replici tipičnih kuća na ostrvu, sve su bele boje sa zelenim vratima i prozorima, okružene dvorištem od crne vulkanske zemlje i egzotičnim biljkama koje rastu na takvom tlu. Na neki način me podseća na kuću Porodice Kremenko :) Tu se nalazi i stara vodenica okružena zelenilom, kao i mesto gde se zajedno čuvaju kamile, koze i kokoške. Ljudi koji rade tamo su nam ponudili domaći sir i vino, i tako smo se našli na klupi u hladu, ispod drveta fuksija boje, na predivnom svežem vazduhu. Mogla sam da ostanem tamo ko zna koliko. Sreća pa je let za povratak kući bio sledećeg dana u kasnim satima, pa me je tešilo to što smo imali još skoro jedan celi dan za ovaj raj na zemlji...
